In Tollywood after Megastar Chiranjeevi retirement from the cine industry the top No.1 position is vacant. Three heroes NTR, Mahesh babu and Pawan Kalyan are fighting for this position. Pawan Kalyan entered the Telugu movie industry with the film ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’ as Kalyan Babu. This movie ran for 100days in 4 centres all over the state and managed to be a hit movie. His second movie ‘Gokulamlo Seetha’ in 1997 also got hit talk. Next he was also seen in ‘Suswagatham’, which gave him the first blockbuster and ran for 100 Days in 16 centres. In 1998, ‘Tholi Prema’ was released and won a National Award and six Nandi Awards. After this movie Pawan acted in ‘Thammudu’, which was one of the biggest hits in the year 1999 which helped build a loyal fan base to Pawan Kalyan. In 2000, he acted in Puri Jagannadh's first directorial venture ‘Badri’ completed its 100 day run in 42 centres. Next Pawan Kalyan was seen in the film ‘Kushi’ in the year 2001. This movie declared to be an All Time Industry record. After Kushi, Pawan Kalyan took a long gap of two years in his film career, he came up with his first directorial venture ‘Johnny’ bombed at box office. In 2004, his film ‘Gudumba Shankar’ was released directed by Veera Shankar (directional debut) gave pawan Kalyan below average talk. In 2005, the film ‘Balu ABCDEFG’ A. Karunakaran's second film with Pawan Kalyan after Tholi Prema. The movie was a good grosser at the box office; it ran for 100 days successfully in 8 theaters in Andhra Pradesh. This was the first Telugu film to be released in Africa after 60 years. In the very next year pawan’s movie ‘Bangaram’ directed by Tamil director Dharani was an average grosser at box office. Later that year, he was also seen in ‘Annavaram’ received positive reviews and proved to be a Super hit at the box office by collecting a record of 23 crores in 3 weeks. ‘Jalsa’ directed by Trivikram Srinivas and produced by Allu Aravind was released in the year 2008 was released on 2 April 2008 with 320 prints in over 1000 theatres and gained tremendous response and successfully completed 100 days in 25 centres. After 2 years Pawan was seen ‘Puli’, written and directed by S. J. Suryaah was disappointed. The film was declared as a flop at the box office. In 2011, he was seen in ‘Theenmaar’ which was remake of the successful Hindi film Love Aaj Kal. It received mixed reviews from critics and was criticized for lack of story and a strong screenplay. In 2012, Pawan was seen in ‘Gabbar Singh’ directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Bandla Ganesh, which was remake of Bollywood movie Dabangg. The movie stood as the highest grossing film of all time in Tollywood as well as in Pawan Kalyan's career. After this film Pawan worked in Puri Jagannadh's ‘Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu’ received good hit.

Junior NTR began his career as a child artist. His first movie he starred in was ‘Brahmarshi Viswamithra’ directed by N. T. R. But his full length major role was in the movie ‘Bala Ramayanam’ directed by Guna Shekar. Tarak made his re-entry into the Tollywood with ‘Ninnu Choodalani’ in 2001, but it failed to perform well at the box office. However in the same year he went on to gain fame with ‘Student No. 1’ directed by S.S. Rajamouli, followed by soft love story ‘Subbu’ which was a flop and ‘Aadi’, which was a blockbuster brought immediate stardom for him. In year 2003, he came up with a political movie ‘Naaga’. Even though the movie raised some political issues worth giving a thought, it settled as an average grosser. However his next movie ‘Simhadri’ went on to become a blockbuster. In 2004, his career took a down turn with ‘Andhrawala’. Though ‘Samba’ fared as above average grosser, his next movies ‘Naa Alludu’ and ‘Narasimhudu’ released in year 2005 did badly at box office. In 2006, his film ‘Ashok’ had the biggest opening week gross in his career but did not appease his fans. His next movie ‘Rakhi’ proved an average grosser at the box office.
